WHO AM I?

My mission
Hello, my name is Simon Zonligt. As you may have read on the home page, I am a 20-year-old parttime freelancer. I say parttime because I am currently following a bachelors degree in Mechatronic Engineering at Avans Hogeschool Breda in the Netherlands.
Around 2 years ago, after 5 long years of high school, I finally got the opportunity to dive in mechanics, material science, control systems and a little bit of robotics.
I always wanted an extra challenge during my college period. So besides this business I founded an engineering student team with two fellow students: Team Advantix.
At Team Advantix around 15 students are currently developing an electric Formula Student racecar. I myself mainly focused on developing a steel spaceframe-type chassis.
You could call me a motivated student, young engineer, business owner but overall I think it is clear I have a big passion for Mechanical -and Mechatronic Engineering related to the automotive industry.
EXPERIENCE
As such a young freelancer there is a lot to learn. But during my study and during my work as a chassis engineer at Team Advantix I learned the basics of many different types of software.
I learned designing in SolidWorks during my study. I can both do CAD and CAM (4-axis) in SolidWorks. In my third year I learned the basics of SolidWorks Simulation.
I worked at several other companies from my 15th to 20th that designed and manufactured everything with Autodesk Inventor Professional. For a short period I also did some FEA in Inventor Nastran. At Team Advantix we also design in Inventor.
My go-to CAD program is Fusion 360, mostly because of the low price but also due to the fact it works really smoothly with STL-files. I work regularly with these file types because they are the output of 3D-scanning software.
At Team Advantix we executed al necessary FEA in Ansys Mechanical. I follow a 2-day training program in order to correctly use this software for linear static, dynamic and modal analyses.
